First People

First People

Blue eyed sailors sailed across the sea,
free of harbours seemed their destiny.
They came to the archway of the albatross,
what lay behind them did not seem a loss.

Wind and water will wear down the stone
from the root structure up to the cone,
but a broken pattern can still be found,
what lies beneath you is more than ground.

The first people tried to understand
what was in the sky and on the land.
Of the cosmos they tried to make sense.
Some carved out windows, others built a fence.

Blue eyed sailors left no signs behind.
they had seeds to plant and corn to bind.
The clearest mirror is made of air.
Once you find the steps, you can climb the stair.
